Botox®

botox-georgiaOver the years, all of the repeated movements and muscle contractions that occur within our faces eventually gives way to visible signs of aging. Botox is a popular, non-surgical injectable treatment that works to relax these facial muscles to help in preventing the development of new lines and wrinkles as well as improve the appearance of existing ones.

Is Botox Right For Me?

With around six million treatments administered in the United States each year, many men and women between the ages of 18 and 65 use Botox as an alternative to surgery for temporarily treating those pesky lines and wrinkles. Botox is most commonly used as a way to achieve a more youthful appearance by treating common problems such as:

  • Crow’s feet
  • Forehead wrinkles
  • Frown lines

But can also be used for the treatment of:

  • Chronic Migraines
  • Excessive underarm sweating
  • Overactive bladder
  • Muscle spasms of the neck or eyes

Patients often combine their Botox treatment with a dermal filler such as Restylane for treating moderate to severe lines and wrinkles or a loss of volume in other areas of the face. Combining Botox and Restylane often provides a more refreshed appearance with younger-looking results.

How Does Botox Work?

Botox is a purified Botulinum toxin injectable that relaxes the facial muscles that are causing the skin’s surface to wrinkle and form lines. By doing so, Botox is able to improve the appearance of existing lines and wrinkles while helping to prevent the development of new ones.

Patients are able to get right back to their normal activities immediately after their Botox treatment. Some may experience slight side effects, such as redness.
